The farm stay Sa Mandra is one the most successful family businesses among those in northern Sardinia

Rita e Mario Murrocu started up this activity in 1993, they are native of Fonni,a town in the inland Barbagia region. The family dcided to move to the” Nurra”, an area close to the “Riviera del Corallo” (the coral Coast), they bought one hundred hectares of land and called it Sa Mandra (in Sardinian language mandra stands for a circular paddock shepherds used to build to confine sheep for milking). Here their business and the estate have developed step by step, as well as the family: in the meantime their childreen Maria Grazia, Michele and Giuseppe were born, and then Fabrizio, their nephew.All of them committed themselves over the years to run this place and turn a dream into reality: to turn a farm into a place that could represent their view of Sardinia.

Today, after yeas of hard and restless work, they can finally welcome their guest in an amazing setting, magic, timeless, that tells about past times of the shining and warm Sardinia.
We take care of everything with loving devotion, the farm architecture is typical of sardinian agro-pastoral culture, many rooms display antiques that Mario collected and restored over the years, and which make this farm very precious, like a museum.
The family Marrocu conceived the farm like a village,with many different buildings instead of one only unit.Customers will walk along different buildings placed around the main hall and the fireplace.
Menus change often, but recipes always comply with tradition; all ingredients are produced in the farm, even the herbs which grow in the garder : we follow the “ food at zero-kilometres” philosophy and every meal is a culinary testament of Barbagia tradition.
